Ueno park and Koishikawa Korakuen are on the list of best places to see cherry blossoms in Tokyo. Ueno park is open to the public which means you don’t need to pay any entrance fees while Koishikawa Korakuen’s entrance ticket costs 300 JPY for adults.

Since Ueno park is open to the public expect that visiting this park will be quite overwhelming because of the amount of people visiting. From individual tourists to paid group tours, Ueno park is a hot spot for cherry blossoms!



As a tourist in this beautiful country of Japan, you might be wondering why locals are laying out picnic blankets early in the morning? In Japan, they call it “hanami” or “ohanami” this long-standing tradition is a way of welcoming spring and appreciating the natural beauty of cherry blossoms. It’s usually held once the cherry blossoms are in peak blooming period, people gather under blooming cherry blossom trees for food, drinks, companionship and to enjoy the beautiful views of the cherry blossoms.

As of today, cherry blossoms are at its peak blooming period in Ueno park and Koishikawa Korakuen. Below are some of the photos that we took from our cherry blossom sight-seeing earlier. We arrived at Ueno park around 9 AM and the park is almost crowded! Make sure to visit earlier!
























On the other hand, Koishikawa Korakuen has a more peaceful environment. The weeping cherry blossom tree is also at its peak blooming period.
