Last month, the Japanese Government announced that residents in Japan will get their 100,000 yen support for the coronavirus pandemic. And guess what, foreigners who are residents also can get this support.
Who is eligible?
- All foreigners who has resided in Japan for at least three months and is registered as a basic resident as of April 27 2020 will be entitled to the ¥100,000 handout, regardless of their current income or financial status.
How do I apply?
- An application form will be mailed to everyone that is eligible, and you can also apply online through the government website for “My Number” card holders. The head of household will be responsible for applying for everyone in the family, and the cash will be wired to his or her bank account as early as May.
When is the application deadline?
- Three months starting from the day they begin accepting applications. The final date for getting your application in will depend on your municipal government.
