Japan Weather News (August 2018): the entire Japan is on high alert again, typhoon “Shanshan” is expected to hit the Greater Tokyo Area tonight (August 8, 2018) and will bring 2-4 inches of rainfall until tomorrow (August 9, 2018).
Typhoon “Shanshan”, with sustained wind speeds of 126 kilometers per hour (78 mph) is expected to increase up to 144 kph (89mph). The typhoon’s direction is forecast to directly hit the “Greater Tokyo Region”.
Typhoon Shanshan is classified as a typhoon with equivalent strength of a Category 1 hurricane in the Atlantic and East Pacific basins. Typhoon Shanshan could strengthen further in the next 24 hours.
North of Japan like Sendai region, may experience some flooding and damaging winds as the storm tracks near the coast of northern Honshu on Thursday.
Typhoon Shanshan is expected to exit Japan by Friday heading further northeast.
