The Sapporo Summer Festival (Sapporo Natsu Matsuri) is an umbrella event that encompasses a number of traditional type events (such as bon dance) as well as a huge temporary open air beer garden in Odori Park. In fact the beer garden is actually multiple beer gardens with a total of 13,000 seats – making this the biggest beer garden in Japan. Each of the big four beer companies have their own beer garden. In addition, there is a World Beer Plaza beer garden and a “German Village” beer garden.
