In early to mid March, Higashiyama Hanatouro is held in eastern Kyoto where the whole Higashiyama area gears up for the amazing and fun-filled night event. This event features illumination of the Higashiyama area with lanterns lighting the path from the Shōren-in temple in northern Higashiyama to the world-famous Kiyomizu-dera temple to the south which is a 5 km route. Not only you will see illumination in Spring but this path will lead you through several temples which are in between the path from the historical Shōren-in temple to the Kiyomizu-dera temple. The event also features Dedication dance of the apprentice Geiko (Maiko), Ikebana Promenade and dance by the fire watch and Oyashi Music group.
