One of Kyoto’s three most famous festivals (along with Gion Matsuri and Jidai Matsuri), Aoi Matsuri is a festival with large parade in Kyoto. Over, 500 people are dressed in the aristocratic styling of the Heian Period which will wall from Imperial Palace to the Kamo Shrines. It is held every 15th of May. Hollyhock in English, Aoi is named after the Hollyhock leaves that are worn by the members of the procession.
