After 56 years, Japan will again be hosting the much-awaited Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games from July 24 – August 9, 2020  and the Paralympic Games from August 25 – September 6 of the same year.

Japan has been an Olympic land since the Summer Games of 1964, which were the first to be staged in Asia. In 2020, the country will host its fourth Games, if the Winter Games of 1972 in Sapporo and of 1998 in Nagano are included.

According to the event organizers Tokyo 2020 Olympics will be “the most innovative ever organized, and will rest on three fundamental principles to transform the world: striving for your personal best (achieving your personal best); accepting one another (unity in diversity); and passing on a legacy for the future (connecting to tomorrow)”

• Tokyo 2020 Olympics – Sports event tickets starts from JPY 2,500 to JPY 130,000 (USD 22 ~ 117 ).
• Half of all tickets to be priced at JPY 8,000 (USD 72 ) or less.
• Also, symbolic tickets priced at JPY 2,020 (USD 18 ) for families and group resident in Japan whose members include children, senior citizen or individuals with impairments. The said priced will also be available in conjunction with a school programme targeting over one million students across Japan.
• Lastly concessionary tickets for wheelchair-dedicated areas.

1. National Olympic Committee of their respective country

People living outside Japan will be able to order their tickets through the National Olympic Committee of their respective country or their authorized ticket seller. Ticket prices and application process will vary for each country however expected ticket prices will most likely be the same price of tickets purchased in Japan.

2. For Residents of Japan

Residents of Japan can register on Tokyo 2020’s online platform in order to obtain a TOKYO 2020 ID. With the said ID they will be able to apply for tickets before they go on general sale.

This coming 2021 Spring those with TOKYO 2020 ID will invited to participate in an online lottery. After the initial tickets are allocated, the remaining tickets will be made available on first-come, first-served basis.

The lottery system aims to give as many people as possible a chance to purchase tickets for the event of their choice. After registering and obtaining their TOKYO 2020 ID, people will be able to apply for tickets during the lottery phase.
