Do only purchase tickets from the official ticket sales channel of TOKYO 2020. This includes Official Ticket Sales Sites, Official Ticket Sales Office, Official Ticket Sales Business. Informal channels like Auction sites may have fake or invalid tickets listed. Also, Tokyo 2020 tickets that were purchased on the unofficial channels are considered invalid and cannot be used t0 enter the venue, this is according to Tokyo 2020 – Terms and Conditions of Ticket Purchase and Use. If you wish to purchase tickets overseas, there is a list of Official Ticket Resellers specified by the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee that are authorized to sell tickets. NOTE: Purchase your tickets from the official ticket sales channels to avoid fraud and fake tickets.

Reselling tickets without permission is prohibited

Acquiring multiple Tokyo 2020 IDs and make lottery application is prohibited. If a prohibited act is discovered, application, winning or purchased ticket may be considered invalid. You may also be suspended your other service entitlements.

JAPAN: Tickets are ONLY sold by the Official Ticket Sales Channel of Tokyo 2020.

OVERSEAS: Tickets are ONLY sold by National Olympic Committees in each country or Authorized Ticket Resellers. For the sales schedule and sales method for each National Olympic Committees in each country or Authorized Ticket Resellers, please contact them. Contact details are on the list. Also, selling of tickets on the Official Ticket Sales Site of Tokyo 2020 will start after Spring 2020.

Ticket Resale Law

‘Act on Securing Proper Distribution of Entertainment Admission Tickets through Prohibition of Unauthorized Resale of Specified Entertainment Admission Tickets’ is an existing law in Japan that was passed in December 2018 and will start to be enforced on June 14, 2021. This Act says that illegal reselling of tickets is prohibited and offenders may be fined up to JPY 1 Million or sentenced to prison up to one year or may get both.

Registration and Identity Verification of Prospective Visitors

The name of the attendees of the event competitions will be printed on the purchased ticket. Please make sure to update your information on “My Ticket” on the official website of the TOKYO 2020.

Identification verification may be asked before entering the venue. Make sure you bring any documents or IDs that can be used to verify your identity.

Invalid or Fake Tickets

Tickets that are purchased from the unofficial channels of the TOKYO 2020 will be considered invalid and cannot be used to enter in any of the event competitions including the opening and closing ceremony.

Official Resale Service for Tickets

For those who purchased tickets but will be unable to use them, you can sell them on TOKYO 2020 Official Resale Website.

  • As scheduled, official reselling of tickets will be in Spring 2020.
  • It will just be conducted on the official ticket website.
  • Prices will be the same as the original prices.
  • There will be a handling charge to pay for successful buyers.
